I'm looking at the preview pics of Terragen 2 again...available at www.planetside.co.uk/gallery/f…
A few more days before the preview is released, and I'm already starting to get a little nervous about the new program...for a few reasons.
At first glance, the images look good, but given a closer look...and the actual quality is lacking in more than a few examples (realizing that these are just examples).
...like...in one image, the waves look amazing, but the fluffy clouds look grainy and almost look like a separate, lower quality render.
This is just one example of a very early preview image of what Terragen 2 will be capable of, but I have to assume that to get the amazing waves -and good clouds, render times will now run into several days...
No price has been mentioned yet because it's still too early, ...but I already know that I can't afford it if it's much past the $100.00 range.
Only being able to go by what I see so far, this thing is looking more and more like Vue...and alot less like Terragen.
To some (most maybe)..that may be a good thing.
Just some thoughts before the preview is released.
It will probably be alright.

Trying to start all over...perhaps.
Knee Deep in Rapture
Hi everybody!...
I'm currently making my way through the pc version of BioShock...on Hard Level..gulp!...but it's an extremely cool game.
The graphics are outstanding, and the sound is really cool when cranked up to ear bleeding levels.
...and ..no subscription fer now...crap.......:( oh well...see you in a month...and for any who read this...take care!
Inactive...very sorry
I will be very inactive over the next 4 to 6 weeks...work is pretty hectic right now. I try to comment on those I watch and keep up to date on my messages...but this may be difficult for a little while.
In the meantime...I am going to start attacking Terragen 2 and will be trying to find my style with the new program.
Take care everyone...and I hope to be back in better form soon!
Terragen's future is BRIGHT!
I like it!
Surfacing is handled much like it was in T1...just more advanced controls and settings available per layer. Lighting is much, much better...as are the clouds.
The problem areas for me so far are:
camera control - this will take getting used to...because it is much more precise in this new program than the "point and click" method of T1.
render times - this is a given...the preview version only allows for so much quality and detail level in the final renders...but..things are pretty slow right now. They are promising to optimize the render times before the release of the full version...but..let it be known that you can never hav
