I will be very inactive over the next 4 to 6 weeks...work is pretty hectic right now. I try to comment on those I watch and keep up to date on my messages...but this may be difficult for a little while.
In the meantime...I am going to start attacking Terragen 2 and will be trying to find my style with the new program.

I like it!
Surfacing is handled much like it was in T1...just more advanced controls and settings available per layer. Lighting is much, much better...as are the clouds.
The problem areas for me so far are:
camera control - this will take getting used to...because it is much more precise in this new program than the "point and click" method of T1.
render times - this is a given...the preview version only allows for so much quality and detail level in the final renders...but..things are pretty slow right now. They are promising to optimize the render times before the release of the full version...but..let it be known that you can never have enough memory. I have 2 gigs/dual channel...but I would like 4

So far...the only thing you can import over are the old terrain files.

Anybody see 'Akeela and the Bee' ?...pretty good family flick...not as good as 'Searching for Bobby Fischer'....but good, though.


I'm totally excited about the Terragen 2 preview edition today!...I am off work, so I hope that it is available early
Render times have not been optimized for the preview ...but..here's something I find interesting:
Java Jones said that T1 will be compatible with the new T2. ...so..I'm already thinking there may be situations, at least in the beginning, where someone might want to blend the two programs for a final render. Not sure...just a thought.

For the record..."Prince of Persia" for the SNES was the best game I ever played
The best PC game I played was "Call of Duty"...very intense and a satisfying ending.
